2021 – Willets (Tringa semipalmata,
Order Charadriiformes, Family Scolopacidae -
Sandpipers >),
along with marbled godwits and whimbrels, are the
big three frequently seen shore birds at Will Rogers
Beach. Willets sometimes hang out with the
marbled godwits, emulating their behavior.
However their bills are considerably shorter, and
the result must be a different diet. In flight
their wings show a blackish or very dark band, a
whitish band and another blackish band. |
