Dear Ron and Hazel

It is wonderful to hear from you at Christmas time.  Sadly (I guess) we are still working our 11 hour days at USC so letter writing gets severely limited.  This year has been busy for us in a different way.—Michael's father died in the spring of this year and my mom died about a month later.  They were both our "remaining parents" so we have been in the "estate-business" since then.....Selling 2 houses, cleaning and sorting etc etc.  The end is in site--maybe by spring of next year.   Meantime we are looking forward to a Big vacation at Christmas time next year.

We are fine in spite of all.  Our "kids" are OK also.  Eric the Eldest is still in Washington DC covering the presidential campaign.  Miguel is teaching High School science in San Mateo CA (near San Francisco) and Alex our youngest is finishing up his PhD at Wisconsin (Molecular Biology).  They are still all single tho Alex has a serious girl friend....now you know all our gossip!!  Hope your Holidays are Happy.

Love, from the Applemans

Dear Friends

I hope "retirement" is going well. The idea seems very attractive after a very hard semester. And next semester doesn't sound any easier – I'll be teaching "integrated science" to non-scientists???

We finally sold David's house last month – after dropping the price $150,000. The new owners are doing a lot of remodelling. I am glad I don't have to worry about it anymore. Thanks again for your kindness at the time of David's death.

Anyway we are trying to get our house in order after redistributing the furniture etc from two estates and we must get together after the turn of the year - maybe even a hike or something.

     Have a Merry Christmas

Michael & Irma
