Primary Industry
The Ministry for Primary Industries reports that primary industries generated  NZ$38.1 billion in export revenue in 2017, a number which was expected to increase to NZ$42.2 billion for 2018.  The Northland's sub-tropic climate makes the region well-suited for agriculture, and each of the major sectors—dairy, meat and wool, forestry, horticulture, seafood, arable (seeds and grains), and other (live animals, honey, processed foods) are represented.
