December 98

Dear Ron and Hazel,

Twas good to hear from you last Christmas.  Like you, we are still at our (P. Palisades) original home.  Have pretty much decided to stay put—why leave our place on "the Rivera" and get ourselves organized somewhere else.

This year has been a bit different tho.  I am no longer working as USC decided they could save some money by having an outside company (VWR scientific) take over the Chem stores.  So I am retired 2 years before I intended.  MMA is still working and gets health insurance for me by doing so.  He enjoys his teaching but I guess is rather disgruntled by the deans who seem to think teaching of science should be done like teaching english or political science.

In August we took a short trip to Wisconsin to be at our youngest (Alex 31 years) son's wedding.  He finished up his pHD and is now in Kalamazoo Michigan teaching college.  His wife is an opthamologist.  Other 2 sons are much the same as last year.

We are planning a camping trip to Anza Borrego St. Desert Park this Christmas.  As always we hope for sunshine!

With best wishes Irma & Michael.
