Dear Ron and Hazel,

We hope have a very happy holiday season.  Our card this year has a picture, taken our back yard, of Cyrtanthus falcatus (commonly called painted lady).  Irma has been spending a lot of time gardening, as travel has grown much more difficult.  Michael spends some of his time using the computer.

In March we visited the Mojave National Preserve, with our University of California Hiking Club group.  It was wonderful to visit with our long time friends who attended this yearly gathering.

July found us in Sacramento and the San Francisco Bay area.  We mostly visited with relatives and spent some time at U.C. Berleley, in San Francisco's China town, and in Marin County.

Our other out of the house "events" have mostly been close to home....something like walking to the grocery or drug stores.  We also do a lot of walking outside our backyard in Temescal Canyon.  If  we go up canyon we are in the Santa Monica Mountains.  If we go down the canyon, there is a park that ends at the Pacific Ocean.  We certainly  picked a good place to live without having to drive a lot.

Today it feels like winter time has finally arrived.  We have ben using our space heater, and the thermometer reads around 50 degrees F.

We wish you good health, lots of evergy and a very happy New Year.
